Sherry Lynn McCormick, 56, of Marble Hill, Mo., died Nov. 24, 2020, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Born on Dec. 21, 1963, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., she was the daughter of Clint Delain and Carolyn Rose Holzum VanMatre.
She was a graduate of Woodland High School and Metro Business College, office/secretarial procedures. On Sept 4, 1982, she married Mark C. McCormick. She committed herself to her family as a loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active member of the Marble Hill Optimist Club, organizing the many sports teams and helping with horse shows. For many summers she managed the Marble Hill city pool and taught swim lessons. Following her children leaving home, she worked as a legal secretary and for Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
She was blessed to travel many places with her husband. Among these travels were Ireland, Italy, Hawaii, Alaska, and much of the USA. Her favorite trips were with all her family and many included water sports. She loved supporting her children and grandchildren in their sports activities.
She was a member of the Marble Hill Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband; two sons: Chad (Amanda) McCormick and Kent (Alisha) McCormick; a daughter, Chelsea (Brandon) Baker; her mother, Carolyn Counts; 10 grandchildren: Paige, Brooke, Wyatt, Kamren, Hattie, Kynlee, Landon, Brea, Essie and Dane. She was preceded in death by her father, Clint VanMatre; her stepfather, Von Counts; and her grandparents: Lilly and Noah VanMatre and Ed and Josie Holzum.
Visitation and funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020, at the Marble Hill United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Tim Zych officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery at Leopold, Mo. Hutchings Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
Viewing of the funeral services will be available on the live-feed on Marble Hill United Methodist Church FB page. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Marble Hill Methodist Church.
Visitors will be required to wear masks and social distance.
