Mary Lanell Eskew, 74, of Sedgewickville, Mo., died at St. Francis Medical Center on December 14, 2020.
Born in Elaine, Arkansas, on May 6, 1946, she was the daughter of Wallace Moroni and Ressie Lee Thrasher Harrison. She and Robert Lee Eskew, Sr. married on April 4, 1965, in Charleston, Mo. He preceded her in death on October 2, 2011.
Mary was a vivacious person, interested in her community, willing to try unconventional activities, a hardworking worker in different jobs, and a hands-on matriarch. She taught her children to be strong, and led her grandchildren by example.
Her family remembers her love of gardening. She was an excellent cook and baker, and she enjoyed her rural area with hunting, calling out turkeys and watching the deer.
She is survived by four children: Robert L. (Torie) Eskew, Jr. of Cape Girardeau, Deborah (Stanley) Acup of Marble Hill, Rhonda L. Lincoln and Dawn Eskew, both of Sedgewickville; six grandchildren: Katie (Korey) Chapman, Kayla (Kyle) Uhrhan, Cody (Rochelle) Lincoln, Ashley Acup (Anthony Grojean) and Grant and Grady Eskew; seven great-grandchildren: Ellie, Madelynn, Bretly, Kaynen, Connor, Michaela, and Emily; and three sisters: Ann Fisher, Joyce Putman, and Pauline McClain. Besides her husband she was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation and funeral services will be Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, Mo. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Kinder officiating. Burial will follow in The Garden of Memories in Sedgewickville.
