Obituary

Marshall Elvens DeLay, 93, of Glen Allen, Missouri, passed away April 27, 2022 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Born July 1, 1928 in Benton, Missouri, to the late Andrew J. and Alma E. (Owens) DeLay.

On January 1, 1949, Marshall and Barbara J. Dennis were united in marriage. Of this marriage they had five children: Marshall, Harold, Kathleen, Hoyt and Nanette.

Mr. DeLay was a minister for over 60 years with the Pentecostal Church of God. He was a member of Grace Family Worship Center in Marble Hill, Missouri. He enjoyed farming, raising soybeans and growing a garden. Marshall was a Korean War Veteran, receiving a World War II Victory Medal, serving his country from 1946 to 1953.

Survivors include: three sons, Marshall (Cyndi) DeLay, Harold (Hope) DeLay, Hoyt (Lori) DeLay; two daughters: Kathleen (Frank) Whitener, Nanette (Greg) Strausbaugh; one sister: Blanche Sowell; ten grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Marshall was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, seven brothers: John, Louie, Bryce, Burette, George, Forrest, Harold; five sisters: Betty, Reka, Mina, Shirley and Rosemary.

Visitation will be held May 3, 2022, at Grace Family Worship Center from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Funeral service will be held following the visitation at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill, Missouri. Rev. Monnie Jones will officiate.
