John Everett Slinkard, 70, of Marble Hill, Mo., died at his home on April 22, 2020. Born in St. Louis, Mo., on March 4, 1950, he was the son of Wilbur Slinkard and Miriam Retherford Craft.
John was a retiree of the Ford Motor Assembly Plant in St. Louis. He moved to Marble Hill following years of working in the city. Many people enjoyed the friendship, generosity, and fellowship John shared. He was a very God-fearing man who played the piano at many services and lived out his call as a Christian.
For many years following official retirement, he shined the floors every evening at the local Country Mart. Early morning coffee and breakfast at local restaurants was the start to his day. He loved to travel, especially to the beaches of the Gulf Coast.
He is survived by a son, Lonnie (Cindy) Yount of Marble Hill; two grandsons: Corey (Mandy Grogan) May of Cape Girardeau and Caleb (Elizabeth) Yount of Grassy; six great-grandchildren: Brylie Grogan, Austin Grogan, Aiden Yount, Cole and Colton Brown, and EllaJane Yount; two sisters: Lydia Feagans of St. Louis and Miriam Dianna Yount of Marble Hill.
A committal service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2020, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery near Marquand. Rev. David Coon will officiate. Hutchings Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
