Dale Owen Smith, 84, of Marble Hill, MO., died July 1, 2020, at his home. Born in Paragould, Arkansas, on August 4, 1935, he was the son of Clarence Eugene and Irene Ward Smith.
He married Betty Beilsten in St. Louis, Mo., on March 18, 1959. She preceded him in death in 1977. In June 1980 he married Marlene (Brown) Mangrum who survives.
Dale worked 42 years for Brown Shoe Company as a supervisor of the trucking fleet. 30 years were at Clayton, Mo., and the last 12 years at the distribution center in Benton, Mo. They moved from Cape Girardeau to Bollinger County in 2007.
He was a Korean War veteran of the US Air Force, serving in Japan as a jet engine mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene; a daughter, Sheila Smith of Houston, Texas; a son, Steven O. Smith of Gainesville, Fl; three stepsons: Steven (Carol) Mangrum of Eureka, Mo., Daniel (Kristy) Mangrum of Rosebud, Mo., and Jeffrey (Donna) Mangrum of Jackson, Mo; a brother, Don (Donna) Smith of Ukiah, Ca., and a sister, Mildred Mascari of St. Louis; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill from 3:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 Graveside honors will be on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
