Charles Eugene “Sonny” Kimbrough, 85 of Zalma, Mo., died on March 12, 2020, at the Advance Nursing Center in Advance, Mo.
Born on August 10, 1934, in Zalma, he was the son of Charley Henry and Okie Laura Bitterman Kimbrough. He married Thelma Eugenia Hale on Dec. 31, 1958. She survives.
Sonny worked at a variety of jobs, among them as a mechanic at Mirly Implement, as a store owner in the small community of Slatte, as a self-employed logger, and as the manager of Ken’s Gas. He enjoyed gospel music and church singings and was a 50-year member of the Zalma Masonic Lodge 545 as a Master Mason.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, by three children: Ricky Kimbrough of Zalma, Cheryl Litterest of St. Genevieve, Mo., and Teresa Caldwell of Benton, Mo; by eight grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, March 16, 2020, at Balch Cemetery near Zalma. Visiting with the family will begin at noon followed by services at 1:00 p.m. Officiators will be the Zalma Masonic Lodge 545 and Rev. Danny Joe McCall. Burial will follow. Hutchings Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
