Charles Junior King, 89, of Delta, Mo., died Oct. 26, 2019, at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Born on Dec. 22, 1929, in Leemon, Mo., he was the son of Floy Ellis and Zona Agnes Hodge King. He graduated from Delta High School and was drafted into the United States Marine Corp in 1951, serving in the Korean war.
He married Mary Lou Cobb in 1963. She predeceased him on Oct. 6, 2013. Mr. King worked for Florsheim Shoe most of his life, along with operating a farm in the Delta area. He served 12 years on the Delta School Board, was a member of Whitewater United Methodist Church and its Men's Club, and the American Legion.
He is survived by a daughter, Lori (Greg) Williamson; a stepson, Eddie (Yvonne) Rhodes; a stepdaughter, Cathy Wright; two sisters: Donna Yarbro and Kathern Anthony, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Whitewater United Methodist Church on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at a later date in New Trace Creek Cemetery near Glenallen. Hutchings Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
